As you are already aware, strong and compelling content that you share in your social media networks is what will drive up the engagement, help grow your tribe and increase your presence. It is recommended to share a mix between helpful tips, blog posts, compelling images, videos and links. However what people really love are pic quotes. After sharing some powerful pic quotes over the last few days, my engagement levels have increased alone from that. In fact it shows based on my current Klout score. It is rounded to 80 now, and went up 0.18 points overnight which is quite a bit for a score at this level.
Trust me, I am not intending to boast in anyway. I am just showing you that my level of engagement went up quite a bit and the increase in the score indicates that. However, it is not usually the links to any informative blog post of mine or someone else’s that triggers that level of engagement. Sometimes even videos don’t necessarily do the same. My thoughts on that is that when people are checking up on their Facebook feeds, they are not in the mindset to take the time to watch a video (even if it is short) and/or read an article. They will usually bookmark it and save it for later. However, many people do love quotes in text and at the same time, they are also quite visual. They are easily receptive to images. When you mix quotes and images, you will get pic quotes like the following.
The truth is many people love pic quotes and are usually eager to engage with them because many times they can relate to them. In fact a lot of people welcome being tagged by others in their networks if pic quotes are involved. They are happy to have something inspiring or something they relate to sent to their walls. Then what happens is, others in their networks see the pic quotes that you had shared and end up becoming new members of your growing tribe!
What you also can do is create your own pic quotes or memes and a great meme generator is http://www.memedad.com. Here is a video tutorial on how to do that (however I don’t recommend using the generator that is used in the video, this was created before I discovered Meme Dad!

They are awesome and thanks for commenting 🙂
I’ve never used a pic quote on my social media but I do always read ones when I’m scrolling. I’ll have to look into that a bit more. Thanks for the info.
They are great to use!
I absolutely love these. I do memes quites a bit for funny sake but I occassionally do them for business purposes too. Need to get more active with it.
Yes they are very popular, thanks for commenting.
I post these every day on my FB page: https://www.facebook.com/PhoenixWholistic but get hardly any engagement at all. Any thoughts on how to remedy this?
Lets schedule a 30 minute free consult and we can discuss this further.
It’s because Facebook is limiting the reach of pages, because they want the page owners to pay. If you know a page owner with a huge fan base, ask them to share your post so that it will get engagement. Make friends with other page owners. 🙂
Also, I tried to sign up for your freebie and I got a CGI server Error. =(

Pic Quotes are essential to get the engagement we are all looking for. I love doing these and am learning to take my camera everywhere. You never know where the next bit of inspiration will come from!
You are definitely right, you never know what will inspire you and thanks for commenting!
Thanks for sharing this. I have created some using quotescover.com, but I usually just use a plain colored background. I can see how using a picture would capture more attention and increase shares.

Hi Miriam, I absolutely love pic quotes. I use one at least once a week on my Facebook or LinkedIn postings. A picture is indeed worth a thousand words……
A picture is worth a thousand words.. love that saying 🙂 Thanks for commenting Kimberley.
I also checked out your post on Twitter. I wasn’t aware of the “Pay with Twitter.” Great concept and I tweeted the link. Thanks for sharing.

It is a great concept!
I have just started using pic quotes and it’s been great. My 2 week summit – The Anxiety Summit – just wrapped up and I had pic quotes for each speaker.
Some added benefits – the speakers loved them and shared + I’m going to use each one for each speaker transcript + I used them in the blog post for each speaker http://www.everywomanover29.com/blog/anxiety-summit-how-zinc-vitamin-b6-prevent-pyroluria-social-anxiety/
I will check out memedad – this one is new to me
Thanks!

Sounds like an excellent summit and that is great the speakers loved them 🙂 They are great!
Thanks for sharing this. I too have discovered the power of pic quotes. I have to admit, that I probably need to use them more often, especially after reading your blog. My pic quotes are usually affirmations, as this is a part of my biz, however I will also try sharing quotes from others and see if I see an uptake in my Klout score. Thanks!

Very valuable information on why using picture quotes is so powerful on social media. It’s obvious that they are popular and people do engage but it definitely gets overwhelming at times. Do you encourage people to stick to a them for their quotes? Or keep the quotes related to their business?
Hi Minette, you bring up a very good point. I have written about in other articles how it is very important to mix content that you share such as images, text, links, videos.. and some of those images include pic quotes. If you do one thing too often it gets overwhelming, and the same would go with pic quotes if that were to be the only thing you shared. However, adding them to your social media activities adds a lot of spice if you will. And the quotes I believe can be random if they are inspiring or thought provoking in some way. It is best to share content that is niche related 80% of the time which indicates you are influential in your field, and miscellaneous 20% of the time because that part is like having “small talk” and opens up relationships more. Thanks for commenting.
I am a visual person so I am attracted to reading pic quotes. I have been using them on my facebook page and sometimes I get one that is a winner. Thanks for your input. I will definitely checkout the memedad site.
Glad to help!
Thanks for the tips and how-to! It is always great to have new strategies.

You are so welcome.
I had no idea! So, it doesn’t really have to have anything to do with the theme of my blog, which is sharing information about the country of Panama?
Not at all!
Thanks for this reminder. I do need to step-it-up in this department.
Glad to help!
I used to believe in image quotes but lately whenever I post an image my rates drop on Facebook. I’ve tried changing times, etc. But nothing increases. Any ideas?
How often are you doing it? If you do it too often it will drop. It is best to mix however image quotes are extremely interactive and people are naturally drawn to them.
Great post, Miriam. I had not heard of memedad.com, so I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks.

I haven’t been posting image quotes myself, but I love to read and share when others do. Perhaps I should start thinking about it 🙂
