I realize that the internet marketing gurus like Mike Dillard and Jonathan Budd have helped many, many people succeed. And I am also all for methods such as SEO, as in fact I am developing a beginner’s course on SEO and hope to have it ready by sometime in May. And I also believe social media and social bookmarking is also wonderful. However, the fact of the matter is, there is a LOT of information out there for when it comes to modern internet marketing- it is so overwhelming to the point that it can cause a LOT of confusion. And I mean A LOT. And some of it is complicated. This is one of the reasons that there is such a high failure rate in MLM and other home based businesses.
In order to be successful in a home based business or in YOUR personal business, you do NOT have to rely on social media, SEO, blogs, etc(unless you want to), oh and NO do not bug your friends and family- that kind of “old school marketing” is not even “old school”, it is obsolete marketing, not old school. And these gurus have also made it sound like calling leads is not worth your time and money. Well, they are right in some cases. However, what if these leads were pre-screened and are serious about working from home, and are willing to do what it takes to succeed? Sure, these kinds of leads may be more costly. But the odds are greater that a large portion of them that you call will not only be pleasant, but will be interested in what you have to offer!
What you would need to do is look for a reputable lead company like Cutting Edge and even talk to people who have used them, if you can. Read up on people’s experience on these companies. If reviews are positive, then definitely consider it. The horror stories you hear about leads being a “waste of time to call and nasty” are most likely leads that were purchased from a not so reputable source. All you need to do is your research when it comes to buying leads. Buying well screened and committed quality leads is possible and worth the money, especially since they have high odds in joining your business.
You don’t have to even call them, you can even send them a professional sales letter, and I have heard that is quite effective.
Another way to advertise is through newspapers! Not big city newspapers, but smaller city papers. Even local regardless of city employment and business guides. Online classifides is okay, but I was talking more about original newspapers! Not online.
Supermarkets around here are picky about you putting your business opportunity on the bulletin board but try it anyway. You may get 1 or 2 good leads from there.
Some online stuff like purchasing solo ads and banner rotators are also a good idea.
Even creating flyers and putting it in people’s door handles or mailboxes is a good idea. It is hit and miss as some may not be interested in making money from home but many others are.
You can even create a banner and paste it on your car window with your phone number with the advertisement of having a business opportunity.
So most of these ideas are “old school” but they have been proven to be effective AND they are a simple way of advertising! So sometimes it is best to ignore what the gurus stay and keep it simple! Simple actually is what works for the most part anyway!
